Two Key International Agreements with Hong Kong and UN Enforced in Turkey

Ankara (Turkey News): On Saturday, Turkey ratified two major international agreements, publishing them in the official gazette and bringing them into effect.

The first agreement, with Hong Kong, focuses on investment protection. Its official title is: “Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investments between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.” The agreement was signed in Ankara on June 1, 2023, and in Hong Kong on October 31, 2023.

The second agreement, under the United Nations, addresses the conservation of marine biodiversity and the sustainable use of marine life in areas beyond national jurisdiction. Its official title is: “Protection and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.” It was signed in New York on September 27, 2024.

Both agreements became effective immediately after publication in the official gazette, strengthening Turkey’s international relations and measures for investment protection.
