Turkey–Armenia relations see improvement, emphasis on confidence-building process

Yerevan (Turkey News Desk)Turkey’s special representative for Armenia relations said that he feels “at home” in Armenia, while talks between the two countries continue to improve bilateral relations.

Speaking during the Yerevan Dialogue, he said that the current process should not be seen as full normalization of relations, but rather as a phase of confidence-building.

According to him, “We are not normalizing Turkey and Armenia relations, rather we are building trust so that we can move faster towards full restoration of relations in the future.”

He added that the recent progress between the two countries was once considered unlikely, but practical dialogue has now significantly improved.

Referring to border connectivity and regional cooperation, he said that Turkey–Armenia relations cannot be separated from broader regional connectivity. He added that cooperation is not limited to transport or railways, but also extends to other sectors.

Experts say the statement reflects easing tensions and increasing diplomatic engagement between the two countries after years of strained relations.
