Ankara (Turkey News): Türkiye has delivered 36 tons of food aid to Nigeria in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis, as part of efforts to support affected communities.
The aid was sent through Disaster and Emergency Management Authority in cooperation with the United Nations and distributed at a camp for internally displaced persons near Yola, the capital of Adamawa State. The camp houses individuals who were forced to flee their homes due to militant attacks and are living under difficult conditions.
The distribution ceremony was attended by the Turkish ambassador, state officials, and representatives of Nigeria’s national emergency management agency. On the occasion, the Turkish ambassador stated that Türkiye is actively playing a role in humanitarian assistance globally and that these efforts aim to ease the suffering of affected populations.
He further added that Türkiye has been supporting Nigeria for a long time and continues to cooperate in addressing security challenges.
Meanwhile, officials from Nigeria’s emergency agency expressed gratitude to Türkiye, stating that the aid is crucial for the people in the camp and will help meet their basic needs.
It is worth noting that militant activities in northeastern Nigeria have displaced millions of people, creating a severe humanitarian crisis, while Türkiye continues to play a significant role in humanitarian assistance across African countries.
