Istanbul (Turkish News): On Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with Nechirvan Barzani, President of Iraq’s Kurdish autonomous region, urging the immediate cessation of regional conflicts.
According to Turkey’s Communication Directorate, during the call, Erdoğan expressed his condolences over the attack on Barzani’s residence. The Turkish president emphasized that Ankara has always opposed such attacks and stressed that ongoing conflicts in the region must be stopped without delay.
The attack comes amid rising regional tensions following the joint U.S.-Israeli military operations against Iran on February 28, which have so far resulted in over 1,340 casualties, including former top leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Tehran launched a series of drone and missile attacks targeting U.S. military bases in Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, causing loss of life, infrastructure damage, and disruptions in global markets and aviation.
