Turkey’s Central Bank Warns: Middle East Conflict Driving Energy Prices Up, Fueling Inflation

Istanbul (Turkish News): Turkey’s Central Bank Governor, Fatih Karahan, has warned that ongoing tensions in the Middle East have caused sharp increases in energy prices, creating cost-push pressures on inflation and indirectly affecting prices across various sectors.

Speaking to Anadolu News Agency, Karahan stated that in the medium term, the conflict’s impact will further influence inflation, as supply-side constraints are already generating pressure from rising costs and disrupted supply chains.

Karahan emphasized, “We are committed to maintaining strict measures as needed to ensure the disinflation process proceeds effectively.”
