Ankara (Turkey News): Education Minister Çiftçi, along with Council of Higher Education President Professor Dr. Erol Özvar, signed a cooperation protocol at the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) under the “Disaster-Ready University, Disaster-Ready Turkey” program.
Minister Çiftçi stated that the protocol officially recognizes the concept of “Disaster-Ready University.” He emphasized that Turkish universities are working together with the energy of youth and the capabilities of state institutions to strengthen collective commitment against disasters.
He added, “Turkey frequently faces earthquakes, floods, landslides, fires, and other natural disasters due to its geography. While it is impossible to completely prevent natural disasters, it is our responsibility to minimize their destructive impact. Enhancing preparedness in every aspect, raising awareness, and developing risk assessment and mitigation strategies are the most effective ways to reduce the devastating effects of disasters.”
