Istanbul (Turkiye News) In Istanbul, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the Turkish national football team will receive full support from the entire nation in all matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Ahead of the important Group D match against Australia on Sunday, President Erdogan extended his best wishes to the players.
In a video message, he said that Turkey’s return to the World Cup after 24 years has created great excitement across the country, and 86 million citizens stand with their team.
According to Erdogan, “It is time to write new history, and we will write it together.”
Referring to the 2002 World Cup, he said that Turkey performed brilliantly at that time and secured third place, and this time too, high expectations are attached to the team.
The President said that the success of the national team is not only about sports but also a symbol of national spirit and unity, and the entire nation is standing with the players.
