Istanbul (Turkey News): An agreement regarding the hosting of next year’s COP31 climate conference was signed on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany.
Turkey’s Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum signed the agreement as COP31 president. UNFCCC Executive Secretary Simon Stiell was also present on the occasion.
The signing ceremony took place during the ongoing climate conference in Bonn, where both sides expressed their commitment to strengthening climate cooperation.
The Turkish minister said that cooperation between Turkey and the United Nations will expand further in the coming days, adding that Turkey aims to ensure a process in which “no one is left behind.”
During his visit to Bonn, he also met various regional groups including African nations, small island states, Arab countries, and representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean.
It is worth noting that the COP31 climate conference will be held in the southern Turkish city of Antalya from November 9 to 20 this year.
