Ankara (Turkiya News) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey paid tribute to the victims of the massacre in Khojaly, Karabakh, carried out by Armenian forces, and reaffirmed Turkey’s full solidarity with Azerbaijan.
The statement described the atrocities committed against innocent civilians in Khojaly as a dark stain on the conscience of humanity. Among the 613 people martyred in the tragedy were 106 women, 63 children, and 70 elderly, while many others were injured, some went missing, and several families were completely wiped out.
Turkey offered prayers for the victims of Khojaly and extended condolences to the people of Azerbaijan. According to the Ministry, the effects of this tragedy still weigh heavily on hearts today.
During the operation, Armenian forces seized areas in Karabakh using heavy artillery and tanks, resulting in 613 civilian deaths within roughly two hours, 487 serious injuries, and 1,275 people taken captive, of whom approximately 150 remain missing.
