Istanbul (Turkiye Khabar) Turkey has congratulated Iraq’s nominee Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi on being assigned the responsibility of forming a new government and expressed hope that the process of government formation will be completed soon.
In a statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was said that Ali Al-Zaidi has been given the mandate to form a government under Iraq’s constitutional process, which was completed after the election of the Speaker and President in Parliament.
The statement added that Turkey extends its best wishes to Ali Al-Zaidi on being entrusted with the responsibility of forming a new government and hopes that this development will prove positive for the Iraqi people.
Ankara also expressed its commitment to further strengthening its strategic and institutional relations with Iraq, which are based on historical, social, cultural, and economic ties.
It is worth noting that Iraqi President Nizar Amadi assigned Ali Al-Zaidi the task of forming a government on April 27, who enjoys the support of the largest parliamentary bloc. Constitutionally, he must form the cabinet within 30 days and secure a vote of confidence from Parliament.
