Ankara (Turkey News) Turkey’s Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz on Wednesday welcomed Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri and his delegation in Ankara, where the two leaders held detailed discussions on the latest regional situation.
The meeting particularly focused on Israel’s ongoing operations and their impact on Lebanon’s humanitarian situation. The Turkish Vice President said that strengthening regional solidarity against Israel’s expansionist policies is extremely important.
Cevdet Yılmaz stated that any attack on Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity is a clear violation of international law.
He assured that Turkey will continue its support for Lebanon’s security, stability, and economic development.
The meeting also discussed increasing cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, energy, and defense, promoting inclusive policies in Lebanon, and supporting efforts for stability in Syria.
The Turkish Vice President said that humanitarian assistance through Turkish institutions such as the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), and the Turkish Red Crescent is an important part of Turkey’s support for Lebanon.
He expressed hope that increased cooperation between the two countries would contribute to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the continuation of Israeli attacks in Lebanon this week has affected the fragile ceasefire in place since mid-April. The Israeli operations have also resulted in significant casualties, property damage, and reports of displacement of millions of people.
