Ankara (Turkey News): Turkey and Indonesia have expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including security, defense industry, economy, and trade. According to sources, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defense Minister Yaşar Güler will hold a joint meeting in Ankara on January 9 with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
The meeting follows the decisions of the Turkey–Indonesia High-Level Council held in February 2025, aiming to deepen collaboration in political relations, security, defense industry, economy, and trade. The agenda will include a comprehensive review of bilateral ties, progress in the defense sector, joint projects, technology exchange, training, and capacity-building opportunities.
A joint communiqué is expected after the talks. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan noted that the strong commitment of both countries’ leadership has given new momentum to relations. Turkey also reiterated its goal to increase bilateral trade to $10 billion.
Furthermore, both nations will engage in detailed discussions on global and regional issues. As members of the OIC and the Arab League’s Gaza Contact Group, they will emphasize coordination and close communication on the Gaza situation.
