Istanbul (Turkiye Khabar) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said that during his official visit to Germany, detailed discussions were held on bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments.
In a statement shared on a social media platform, Hakan Fidan said that Türkiye will continue to maintain close coordination and strengthen cooperation with its ally Germany on bilateral, regional, and international issues.
He stated that the third meeting of the strategic consultation mechanism between Türkiye and Germany was also held in Berlin. According to him, the last such meeting took place 12 years ago, and the recent engagement reflects the shared commitment of both countries to further advance their strategic partnership.
The Turkish Foreign Minister said that comprehensive reviews of bilateral relations were conducted in meetings with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, along with other officials.
He added that cooperation will be further deepened through joint projects and mutual investments in sectors including defense industry, economy, energy, and connectivity.
Hakan Fidan noted that the Turkish community living in Germany plays a vital role as a bridge in strengthening humanitarian, cultural, and economic ties between the two countries, making the preservation of these relations essential.
He further stated that the meetings also included discussions on preparations for the NATO summit scheduled in Ankara in July, European security, the Russia-Ukraine war, the Iran conflict involving the United States and Israel, and the situation in Gaza.
According to the Turkish Foreign Minister, all parties emphasized that ongoing crises should be resolved through diplomatic means.
Fidan also met North Rhine-Westphalia Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst alongside his strategic talks with the German Foreign Minister.
