Turkey and Armenia agree on restoration of Kars-Gyumri railway

Istanbul (Turkey News Desk) Turkey and Armenia have emphasized the importance of restoring the Kars-Gyumri railway and activating it as soon as possible in order to improve regional transport links. According to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a joint working group meeting of both countries was held on April 28 in the eastern Turkish province of Kars, in which matters related to the restoration and operationalization of the railway were discussed. This meeting was held under the ongoing process of normalizing relations between the two countries. The statement said that both sides agreed that making the railway operational quickly is extremely important for strengthening transport and economic links in the region. According to experts, this development is being seen as an important effort to promote connectivity and cooperation in the South Caucasus region.
