Washington (Monitoring Desk) – U.S. President Donald Trump sparked a new controversy by making sarcastic remarks about French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife during a private event.
According to media reports, at a private White House lunch, Trump criticized NATO allies for not supporting the war against Iran. He said, “I called France, Macron, whose wife treats him very badly.” The remark referenced an old video allegedly showing Brigitte Macron in a stern interaction, though the French president had previously dismissed the video as misleading.
Trump added that he had requested immediate assistance from France in the Gulf region, but Macron offered support only after the conflict, which Trump presented sarcastically. He also labeled NATO a “paper tiger,” warning that in a major global conflict, the alliance might not stand with the U.S.
