Trump announces halt to strikes on Iran on request of Shehbaz Sharif and Syed Asim Munir

Washington (Monitoring Desk) US President Donald Trump has announced the suspension of strikes on Iran following a request from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

In a statement on social media, the US President said that Pakistan’s leadership had requested that attacks on Iran be halted and that strikes be postponed until Iran’s leadership presents a unified set of proposals.

According to President Trump, the ceasefire will remain in place until the negotiation process is completed and Iran presents its proposals.

He added that the US military has also been directed to continue maintaining the blockade and remain prepared for any possible situation.

On the other hand, adviser to the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mehdi Mohammadi, rejected the US President’s announcement of an extension of the ceasefire.

In a post on social media, he said that the announcement has no significance, and described the blockade against Iran as equivalent to bombing, which should be responded to through military action.
