Tensions in Strait of Hormuz, Allegations Against Iranian Revolutionary Guards for Stopping Indian Oil Tankers

Gulf (Monitoring Desk) According to Arab media reports, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have been accused of stopping two Indian oil tankers from passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

The reports claim that during the incident, Iranian gunboats also opened fire, while the vessels were carrying around 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil.

According to sources, Iran has stated that it will maintain strict control over the strategic waterway until the lifting of the alleged US blockade. In a statement, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards said that the United States is engaging in maritime piracy through an alleged blockade of Iranian ports, and that their forces are responsible for the monitoring and management of the Strait of Hormuz.

The reports also said that Iran had announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz yesterday; however, US President Donald Trump stated that the blockade of Iranian ports would continue, after which the situation has further escalated.
