Baku (Turkey Desk) — The declaration issued after the 13th session of the Global Urban Planning Forum, titled “Baku Action for Implementation,” has been described as the result of a collective, fair, and inclusive process.
The declaration includes input from stakeholders across various levels of governance, including civil society, women, the elderly, children and youth, local communities, experts, academic and research institutions, local and regional authorities, persons with disabilities, members of parliament, and the private sector.
According to the declaration, this progress is the outcome of extensive consultations conducted over several months with different stakeholders prior to the forum. It emphasizes that such multilateral consultative processes should continue in the future to ensure transparency and accountability.
Appreciation was also expressed for the host country for successfully organizing this major global gathering, which was attended by heads of state, ministers, and senior representatives from dozens of countries. The forum was described as the largest urban planning event to date in terms of participation.
It was also reported that new initiatives were introduced during the forum, including urban awards, a business and innovation center, training programs, and experience centers. These initiatives aim to promote urban development, innovation, and sustainable planning.
Furthermore, it was noted that the impact of the forum continues globally even after its conclusion, with international media highlighting the event, keynote addresses, and urban development models. Topics such as modern urban planning, environmentally friendly development, housing facilities, and digital transformation received significant global attention.
The host country’s initiatives in war-affected areas, including smart cities, smart villages, and green zones, were also highlighted as emerging models of future urban development.
The forum has been described as an important regional platform for urban development, environment, and modern planning, promoting the exchange of experiences between countries.
