“Baku Action Call” document issued at Global Urban Development Forum in Baku, acknowledgment of wide international participation

Baku (Turkey Desk) — The concluding outcomes of the 13th session of the Global Urban Development Forum held in Baku have been compiled in a document titled “Baku Action Call,” described as the result of a joint, inclusive, and participatory process.

The document was prepared through broad engagement of stakeholders from various sectors, including civil society organizations, women, elderly, children and youth, local communities, experts, academic and research institutions, local and regional authorities, persons with disabilities, members of parliament, the private sector, and other stakeholders connected to the housing value chain.

It states that the progress reflects months of consultations and sustained engagement among multiple parties and should continue in the future as a permanent and structured multilateral consultation mechanism.

The participation of more than 58,000 participants from 176 countries was described as historic, and gratitude was expressed to the Government of Azerbaijan.

According to the report, for the first time, 27 heads of state and government, over 100 ministers, and senior United Nations officials participated in the Leaders’ Summit hosted by the country.

New initiatives of the forum include the Baku Urban Award, Business and Innovation Center, WUF Academy Campus, and Experience Center.
