Azerbaijan (Showbiz Desk): The Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theatre will once again stage the musical You Are the King on February 20, honoring legendary singer Elvis Presley, in response to audience demand.
All of Presley’s hits will be performed in a unique orchestral arrangement, conducted by musician and maestro Javid Taghi Zadeh. The shows promise to capture the true energy of rock and roll.
The musical portrays complex relationships, intrigues, and confessions through powerful vocals and live dance. The outstanding choreography by ballet master Kamila Aliyeva, combined with the performers’ energy, creates a memorable celebratory atmosphere for the audience. Under the direction of choir master Vagif Mastanov, the choir’s performance elevates the production to the level of a major Broadway show.
Elvis Presley, known as the "King of Rock and Roll," was one of the most successful singers of the 20th century, blending country and blues to introduce the innovative rockabilly style. Six of his 786 songs are listed among the "Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll," and over 150 of his albums achieved gold or platinum status. Presley also starred in 31 films, and Rolling Stone ranked him the third greatest singer of all time.
