Spanish Prime Minister’s Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Ankara Due to Technical Fault

Istanbul (Turkiye Khabar) The plane of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez made an emergency landing in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, due to a technical fault during the flight.

According to the Spanish state news agency EFE, the Prime Minister’s official aircraft, an Airbus A310, was en route from Madrid to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, to attend a meeting of the European Political Community when it encountered a technical issue mid-route.

The report stated that the fault was minor in nature; however, as a precautionary measure, the aircraft was diverted and landed in Ankara. It is expected that the Prime Minister will stay overnight in Ankara and depart for Yerevan the following morning.

It is worth noting that this is not the first such incident. Earlier, on September 4, 2025, the aircraft also developed a fault while traveling from Madrid to Paris, forcing it to return, and the Prime Minister had to attend the meeting via video link.
