Ankara (Turkiye Khabar) Spain and Brazil have strongly condemned the alleged abduction of their two citizens by Israel in international waters, calling it an outright illegal act.
According to a joint statement by both countries, the affected individuals were aboard ships of the “Sumud Flotilla” carrying humanitarian aid, which were stopped by Israeli forces in international waters. It was further stated that they were neither released afterwards nor granted full consular access.
The statement said that this action is a clear violation of international law and may be taken to international courts. It was also described as a punishable offense under the national laws of both countries.
Spain and Brazil have demanded the immediate return of their citizens and the provision of full security guarantees from the Israeli government.
According to reports, the “Global Sumud Humanitarian Aid Flotilla” was heading towards Gaza and was stopped near Greece, while its purpose was to deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged area.
It is worth noting that Gaza has been under blockade since 2007, where more than 2.4 million people are facing a severe humanitarian crisis.
