Regional environmental summit in Astana; joint declaration of Central Asia and Azerbaijan adopted

Baku (Turkey News) A joint declaration has been adopted by Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries during the Regional Environmental Summit held in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, to enhance cooperation in the fields of climate change, environmental protection, and public health.

The meeting was attended by Azerbaijan’s Health Minister Timur Musayev, along with health ministers from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

The declaration emphasized the need to adopt a joint strategy to address environmental issues in the region and to implement coordinated measures for the protection of public health.

Participants agreed that the impacts of climate change are a shared challenge for the countries of the region, and that close cooperation and exchange of information are essential to deal with these challenges.

According to experts, this step represents an important development toward strengthening regional cooperation between Central Asian and Caucasus countries in the fields of environment and health.
