Drone attack in Azov Sea: consular assistance provided after deaths of Azerbaijani citizens

Baku (Turkey News) Following an alleged drone attack on cargo ships in the Sea of Azov, incidents of death and injuries involving Azerbaijani citizens have been reported.

According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, upon receiving information about the incident, officials from the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia immediately moved towards the affected area.

The statement said that consular officials are currently present in the Russian city of Yeysk and are in contact with injured individuals as well as Azerbaijani citizens who were safely evacuated, while providing them with necessary consular assistance.

Officials said that the condition of the injured is reported to be stable, and some are expected to be discharged from hospital soon.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing by Russian authorities, while the identification process of the deceased is also being completed.

It was further reported that procedures for preparing travel documents and issuing return certificates for the rescued citizens are also underway to facilitate their repatriation.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said it is closely monitoring the situation and remains in continuous contact with relevant authorities.
