Lahore (Turkiye Khabar) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif held a detailed meeting with Mikayil Jabbarov to discuss bilateral economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and the promotion of joint projects.
During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the long-standing friendly relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. They agreed to expand cooperation in various sectors including trade, investment, urban development, agriculture, tourism, logistics, and infrastructure.
According to the joint statement, it was also decided to establish a joint working group to facilitate economic cooperation and investment initiatives. The Punjab chief minister appointed Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb to lead the working group.
The working group will include relevant government institutions and technical experts from both countries to identify priority sectors for joint ventures and investment. It will also work on promoting public-private partnership opportunities, investor engagement, and monitoring the progress of development projects.
The meeting also included discussions on frameworks for cooperation in housing, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and tourism, while both sides agreed on improving ease of doing business and regulatory facilitation mechanisms.
The two leaders further reviewed the possibility of a preferential trade agreement between Pakistan and Azerbaijan aimed at increasing bilateral trade and reducing trade barriers.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif also invited the Azerbaijani economy minister to visit Pakistan, while both sides agreed to accelerate coordination through the joint working group to transform cooperation into practical projects.
