Pakistan’s New T20 Squad Announced for Sri Lanka Series

Lahore (Sports Desk): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-member national squad for the upcoming T20 International series against Sri Lanka. According to the official statement, Salman Ali Agha has been appointed as captain for the series to be played in Sri Lanka.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Khawaja Muhammad Nafay has been included in Pakistan’s T20 squad for the first time, while Shadab Khan has made a comeback to the national T20 team following shoulder surgery.

The selected squad includes Salman Ali Agha, Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Muhammad Nafay, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Usman Khan and Usman Tariq.

The national team will depart for Sri Lanka in phases on January 4 and 5, 2026. The three-match T20 International series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played on January 7, 9 and 11 in Dambulla. This series will play a key role in finalizing the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, PCB has also announced the team management for the tour. Naveed Akram Cheema will serve as team manager, while Mike Hesson has been appointed as the Head Coach for white-ball cricket. Ashley Noffke will be the bowling coach and Mohammad Hanif Malik the batting coach. Shane McDermott will take charge as fielding coach.

Other support staff include Cliff Deacon as physiotherapist, Grant Luden as strength and conditioning coach, Talha Ijaz as team analyst and Syed Naeem Ahmed as media manager. In addition, Colonel Usman Anwari has been appointed as security manager, Dr. Wajid Ali Rafai as team doctor, and Mohammad Ehsan as masseur.
