Islamabad (Turkey News): Pakistan has restored its strategic importance on the global stage through its geographic location, strong defense capabilities, and effective diplomacy. The international journal Carolina Political Review recognized the Pakistani government and military leadership for their exemplary strategic approach in a special report.
According to the report, Pakistan regained a significant position in international politics in 2025. The May Pakistan-India tensions strengthened the country’s defense credibility, while effective diplomacy restored Washington’s confidence and gave bilateral relations a new direction.
Carolina Political Review highlighted Pakistan as a key bridge to South Asia, the Gulf, and Central Asia. The United States recognized Pakistan’s geographical significance due to its unique location at the intersection of South Asia, Central Asia, Western Asia, and the Middle East. The report also emphasized the strategic importance of ports in Balochistan, including Gwadar. Through new opportunities in port and mineral cooperation, Pakistan advanced national interests and economic pathways while maintaining multilateral balance under the CPEC framework.
The journal noted that the U.S. National Security Strategy published in November recognized Pakistan as a key American ally. During India-Pakistan tensions, the U.S. played an active role in de-escalation, while former President Trump’s statements on dialogue over Kashmir further strengthened Pakistan’s diplomatic position.
The report highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic gains in establishing a positive environment in Washington, while India lagged behind. Through lobbying and policy engagement, relations shifted from a “war on terror” framework toward economic and strategic cooperation.
Practical bilateral initiatives were also highlighted. Under the mineral and rare earth cooperation framework, the U.S. and Pakistan signed partnership deals worth $500 million. EXIM Bank approved $1.25 billion financing for mining key minerals in Reko Diq, Balochistan, generating investment and employment opportunities. The report also noted emerging U.S.-Pakistan cooperation in Balochistan’s energy sector. Pakistan pursued strategic autonomy while re-engaging with the U.S., fostering sustainable relations based on mutual interests.
