Pakistan, European Countries Agree to Curb Illegal Immigration

Islamabad (Turkey News): In Rome, the interior ministers of Pakistan, Italy, Spain, and Greece have agreed on a joint policy framework to prevent illegal immigration. The Pakistani delegation, led by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, participated in the meeting alongside their Italian, Spanish, and Greek counterparts.

Ministers Matteo Piantedosi, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, and Athanasis Plevris praised Pakistan’s efforts to curb illegal immigration. The four countries agreed to control unauthorized migration through legal pathways and to promote these efforts with the support of the European Union.

The meeting also decided that a joint strategy will be implemented against illegal immigration, human trafficking, and drug smuggling, while serious offenders will be repatriated from Europe to Pakistan. The next round of the four-nation meeting will be held in Pakistan.

The Pakistani interior minister expressed gratitude to Italy for providing 10,500 jobs and emphasized that European countries should promote formal and legal migration channels to discourage illegal movement. He further stated that Greece and Spain will continue to collaborate in providing employment opportunities for Pakistani citizens.
