Islamabad (Turkey News) – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has assured that in this challenging time, economically vulnerable segments of society will not be left alone.
In a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, the impact of the Gulf crisis on petroleum products, existing domestic reserves, and public relief measures were reviewed. The session included a detailed briefing on government initiatives for fuel conservation, future action plans, and current stock levels. The Intelligence Bureau also presented an audit report on the progress of the Prime Minister’s austerity campaign and savings measures.
Shahbaz Sharif stated that the government is committed to providing additional relief to the poor and middle-income groups. He highlighted steps taken to reduce government expenditures, cut the development budget, and immediately suspend 60 percent of official vehicles, marking the start of sacrifices with reduced administrative spending.
The Prime Minister added that proposals to raise fuel prices were rejected and that savings are being directed toward public relief. Relief measures will reach citizens through a digital system. Despite the global crisis, fuel supply has remained uninterrupted, and Pakistan continues diplomatic efforts to maintain regional peace.
The meeting also noted that provincial governments are accelerating the registration of motorcycles and rickshaws to ensure relief reaches owners effectively. Adequate fuel stocks are available to meet national needs, and despite the increase in high-octane fuel levies, jet fuel prices remain unchanged. Medicine reserves are also sufficient.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, the Prime Minister’s advisers, ministers of state, special assistants, and other senior officials.
