Mumbai (Showbiz Desk): Veteran Bollywood actress Nina Gupta recently reflected on her career, stating that she could have outperformed many of today’s heroines and even looked better on screen.
The 66-year-old actress, who entered Bollywood in the early 1980s, shared in a recent interview that she regrets not getting the chance to play lead roles in mainstream Hindi films during her prime.
Nina said her career was long and remarkable, spanning from cinema to the rise of cable TV in the 1990s, and later achieving success in commercial films. Yet, she believes she could have done even better.
She candidly admitted, “I made my own mistakes, I didn’t always act patiently, and most of the time I lacked self-confidence. These factors became obstacles in my progress.”
The actress further revealed that there was no mentor or guiding figure in the industry for her—neither a godmother nor godfather. She realized over time that Bollywood is primarily a business, with emotions playing a limited role, and understanding its rules is essential for success.
