Baku (Turkiye News) — Experts say that a rapidly evolving geopolitical situation is emerging in the South Caucasus, marked by shifting power balances and increasing influence of external actors in the region.
This view was expressed in an interview by international relations expert Nazanin Ali Zada from the Department of International Relations at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University.
According to her, some European and regional powers are attempting to expand their influence in the area; however, developments after 2020 have significantly reshaped the regional balance of power.
She noted that recent conflicts have demonstrated that regional power dynamics are no longer determined solely by traditional military strength, but are also influenced by modern warfare strategies and technology.
The expert added that several important changes have emerged in the region, including a growing role for local powers in resolving regional issues and the rise of new models of regional cooperation.
She concluded that the changing situation in the South Caucasus signals a new era in which regional roles and alliances are becoming increasingly significant.
