Modern Art Exhibition “Geyser” Opens as Part of “Oil Boom Smiles on Everyone” Festival

Azerbaijan (Showbiz Desk) The Museum of Modern Art inaugurated the contemporary art exhibition “Geyser,” held as part of the “Oil Boom Smiles on Everyone” festival. The festival is organized by the Magsud Ibrahim Beyov Creative Center with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and sponsorship from BP.

The opening ceremony was attended by Anar Alkbarov, Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center, other government dignitaries, and prominent figures from the arts. The festival, running from November 2025 to February 2026, honors the creative legacy of renowned Azerbaijani writer Magsud Ibrahim Beyov. It focuses on the cultural and historical context of the oil era, bringing together diverse art forms and reflecting themes of change, expectation, and internal conflict evident in Beyov’s literary works.

The “Geyser” exhibition is one of the festival’s major projects. Inspired by Beyov’s play Oil Boom Smiles on Everyone, the exhibition offers a comprehensive interpretation of personal experiences intersecting with collective history.

Ana Ibrahim Beyova, Director of the Magsud Ibrahim Beyov Creative Center, said, “This is truly a remarkable occasion, as talented young artists are participating. Most are not only exhibiting their work but engaging deeply with ideas and revisiting Beyov’s writings. The works on display translate impressions, personal interpretations, and artistic responses into the visual language of art.”

Anar Alkbarov thanked the team and emphasized the festival’s significance, noting that programs and performances running since November 2025 are highly important. He expressed hope that the festival would become a tradition and praised the artists for their continuous creative output, wishing them success in future projects.
