Lahore (Turkiya News) — According to an official report from Lahore, government hospitals in the province of Punjab have a total of only 411 ventilators for a population exceeding 120 million. The detailed report, submitted to the Lahore High Court by the DG Health Care Services, stated that hospitals across the province’s 36 districts have a limited number of ventilators available for patients.
The figures show that Mianwali district has the highest availability with 30 ventilators, while Sialkot has only four. In the provincial capital Lahore, nine ventilators are provided, 18 in Rawalpindi, 23 in Hafizabad, and 10 in Vehari.
The report explained that ventilators are critical medical devices used to provide artificial respiration to patients in intensive care. The court was informed that trained personnel are assigned to operate these machines, and a special system has been established to monitor their performance.
These details were requested in response to a petition filed by Justice Khalid Ishaq. The report further stated that emergency measures have also been implemented for patients suffering from severe respiratory distress to ensure that the available resources are used effectively.
