Ankara (Turkiye Khabar) Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug is set to arrive in Turkey on Wednesday for an official visit, where he will hold key talks in Ankara with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
According to Turkish diplomatic sources, the discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, trade, investment, and expanding cooperation in multiple sectors between the two countries.
The sources added that Hakan Fidan is expected to emphasize the implementation of decisions taken during the Türkiye–Mauritania Joint Economic Commission held in May 2025.
Both sides are expected to explore cooperation in defense industry, fisheries, agriculture, and mining, along with enhanced collaboration in counterterrorism efforts in the Sahel region and Türkiye’s support for socio-economic development.
The two ministers will also discuss strengthening coordination at international platforms, including the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
It is worth noting that Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug previously visited Türkiye in April this year, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had made a historic visit to Mauritania in 2018.
