Key meeting on agricultural development program in Central Aran region of Azerbaijan, focus on irrigation reforms

Agdash (Turkiye News): A significant regional meeting was held in Agdash under the Central Aran economic region to review the state program for the development of agricultural, fisheries, and aquaculture production and processing sectors for 2026 to 2030.

The program has been approved under a presidential decree issued by Ilham Aliyev on May 25, 2026.

The meeting was attended by heads of relevant government institutions, farmers, business representatives, and other stakeholders from Agdash, Goychay, Kurdamir, Ujar, Yevlakh, and Zardab districts.

Addressing the meeting, Zeynal Nagdaliyev highlighted the special attention given by President Ilham Aliyev to the agricultural sector and said that large-scale reforms have been implemented in recent years.

He said that the state support system has been improved, agricultural parks have been established, modern irrigation systems have been expanded, and measures have been taken for more efficient use of land and water resources.

He added that the new state program is a continuation of these reforms and will mark a new phase in the development of the agricultural sector.

During the meeting, Chairman of the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan Zaur Mikayilov briefed participants on water supply, ongoing projects, and future plans in the Central Aran region.

He said the new program will expand modern irrigation systems, ensure efficient water use, and introduce digital monitoring and management systems.
