Karachi (Turkiye News) — Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazlur Rehman has announced a nationwide protest movement against inflation, saying that decisions will now be made in the streets rather than in parliamentary halls.
Addressing the Wahdat-e-Ummat Conference in Karachi, he said that the Muslim Ummah has been facing global oppression and injustice for decades, while the world remained a silent spectator to the suffering of Muslims in Palestine and Gaza.
Fazlur Rehman said that the Muslim Ummah needs unity and that Arab countries should come forward as a joint defensive force. He warned that if tensions in the region increase further, their effects could spread throughout the Muslim world.
He stated that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam is promoting politics based on love, tolerance, and national unity in the country, adding that the party believes in the Constitution and the democratic system and opposes hatred and extremism.
Fazlur Rehman alleged that attempts are made to sideline his party through rigging in the electoral process, while religious scholars and party workers continue to be targeted.
He announced that protests against inflation will be held at district headquarters across the country on May 22, while a major public gathering will be organized in Pishin on June 4.
