Islamabad (Turkey News) — With the prospects of immediate talks between Iran and the United States decreasing, attention has temporarily shifted, while Pakistan is once again seen playing an important role in diplomatic activities.
According to details, after a temporary ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran about three weeks ago, Pakistan had come into global focus; however, in the past 10 days, two attempts for a new round of talks failed due to Iran’s preconditions.
Sources say that direct negotiations have now been replaced by backchannel diplomacy, in which Pakistan holds a central position. According to reports, Iran has conveyed a proposal to end the war with the United States through Pakistan to Washington.
Iran’s stance is that it believes in a phased resolution of issues and is not in favor of signing an immediate agreement, while the United States is pushing for a comprehensive “all-in-one deal.”
According to U.S. media, Tehran may soon present a revised position to Washington through Pakistan, however the situation remains uncertain.
