Turkistan (Turkiye Khabar): President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, along with other heads of state participating in the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States, visited the “Hazrat Sultan” museum-reserve located in the city of Turkistan.
According to reports, the visiting leaders were given a detailed briefing on the historical heritage site. It was stated that the “Hazrat Sultan” National History and Culture Museum-Reserve was established in 1989. Its “Rare Antiquities Hall” is considered one of Kazakhstan’s most important museum and exhibition projects.
The main objective of the institution is to preserve rare medieval historical and cultural heritage and present it to the world. The museum houses valuable artifacts related to Turkistan’s rich history, the spiritual heritage of the Turkic world, and the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi.
At present, the museum collection contains more than 26,000 artifacts, of which approximately 80% are archaeological items.
Later, the leaders also visited the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Turkistan, which is considered one of the largest Islamic architectural monuments in Central Asia and is recognized as a spiritual symbol of Kazakhstan.
The mausoleum was built at the end of the 14th century by order of Amir Timur at the burial site of the great Sufi poet and thinker Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. The complex, built in a unique architectural style, contains more than 35 rooms, and its preserved rare artifacts make it one of the most important spiritual and cultural centers in the Islamic world.
