Beijing (Monitoring Desk) Vladimir Putin will hold detailed discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to China on bilateral relations, energy cooperation, and the global political situation.
According to Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, President Putin will arrive in Beijing on the evening of May 19, where he will be received by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. An official ceremony in his honor will be held at Tiananmen Square on May 20.
He said that the Russian delegation will include deputy prime ministers, federal ministers, the head of the central bank, regional officials, and heads of major companies.
Energy cooperation will be given special importance during the talks, particularly the “Power of Siberia 2” gas pipeline project, which will be a key part of the agenda. The project is being viewed as a major strategic initiative in the energy sector between Russia and China.
The two countries are also expected to sign around 40 agreements and various documents, while the leaders will participate in the opening ceremony of a joint education program.
According to Russian officials, Moscow and Beijing support a fair and multipolar global order, and there is broad alignment in the foreign policy positions of both countries.
Yuri Ushakov stated that trade volume between Russia and China reached nearly 240 billion dollars last year, while most trade transactions are now being conducted in rubles and yuan. He also said that Russian oil exports to China have increased significantly during the first quarter of the current year.
