London (Monitoring Desk): According to a British media report, India fears that US President Donald Trump could soon include the Kashmir issue in the Gaza Board of Peace.
The Gaza Board of Peace was established to oversee the ceasefire and interim governance between Israel and Hamas and includes 59 countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. India was invited to the Davos meeting, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not attend.
Former Indian ambassadors Akbaruddin and Ranjit Rai said that joining the board could be risky for India, as its decisions may impact stability in West Asia and India’s international relations, and expecting impartiality under Trump’s presidency is difficult.
The report states that India’s leadership is concerned that the consequences of joining—or not joining—the board could be far-reaching, regardless of whether it accepts or rejects the invitation.
