Azerbaijan (Showbiz Desk): Floyd Vivino, the renowned comedian, musician, and TV personality from New Jersey, known as “Uncle Floyd,” has passed away at the age of 74.

His brother, Jerry Vivino, shared the news on social media, saying that his elder brother “will be remembered” and that family, friends, and fans will always cherish his memory. According to Jerry, Vivino had been facing health issues for the past two years.

Born in 1951 in Paterson, Vivino grew up in a musical family and became one of northern New Jersey’s most popular entertainers. He gained his greatest fame with The Uncle Floyd Show, which aired locally on cable from 1974 to 2001 and earned him a cult following.

At the show’s peak, thousands of fans joined the Uncle Floyd fan club, an extraordinary feat for a regional TV personality before the era of social media. Even after the program ended, Vivino remained a staple in New Jersey’s public events and live comedy shows.

Vivino was known for his signature style — a pork pie hat and checkered coat — and his locally inspired humor, which resonated with Garden State audiences. His influence extended beyond New Jersey, appearing in films such as Good Morning, Vietnam, and earning recognition from major artists, including David Bowie.

Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh described him as “one of Paterson’s funniest individuals” and highlighted his contribution to spreading joy and entertainment in the community. For New Jersey, Uncle Floyd was more than a performer; he was a cherished cultural icon.
