Turkey (Sports Desk): Italian tennis star Lorenzo Musetti has reached the Australian Open quarterfinals for the first time, defeating ninth seed Taylor Fritz 6–2, 7–5, 6–4.
Fifth seed Musetti faced a challenging tournament, as one of his coaches and his physiotherapist had to return to Italy due to personal reasons. Musetti has been playing away from his family since the birth of his second son in November.
Musetti said, "I feel more mature on the court, and that’s why I’m playing better. I didn’t get much sleep in the off-season, but we practiced more effectively. I’ve been alone for over 20 days now, but I feel their presence."
Musetti will now face Novak Djokovic, who advanced to the round of 16 with a walkover after his opponent Jacob Mensik suffered a stomach injury.
