Islamabad (Turkey News): Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has said that the rapidly increasing population in Pakistan has become a major challenge for the country’s health system, placing continuous pressure on available resources.
Speaking at a health and nutrition conference, he said that citizens need to adopt a healthier lifestyle, while the government is also taking steps to strengthen the basic healthcare infrastructure.
The federal minister stated that the current health system is largely focused on treatment rather than prevention, whereas there is a strong need to shift towards preventive healthcare strategies.
He added that building hospitals and recruiting medical staff alone is not sufficient, and comprehensive reforms across the entire health system are essential.
According to Mustafa Kamal, the COVID-19 pandemic clearly demonstrated that even the strongest health systems can come under sudden strain, making preventive measures and advance planning necessary.
He said the Ministry of Health has prepared a new healthcare strategy in collaboration with international experts aimed at reducing the burden on hospitals and keeping the population healthier.
The minister further emphasized the need for integrated efforts to ensure access to clean water, better medicines, and quality healthcare services so that the health sector can be made more efficient and modern.
