Government Prepares IMF Relief and Economic Strengthening Proposals

Islamabad (Commerce Desk): The Government of Pakistan has initiated consultations on possible adjustments to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan program to create stability in the national economy and foster development opportunities.

According to sources, the Ministry of Finance has prepared various proposals aimed at boosting economic growth, promoting investment, reducing power tariffs, and tackling unemployment and poverty.

The government plans to request relief from the IMF regarding primary balance and provincial budget surplus targets, which would create fiscal space to strengthen key sectors of the economy.

The Ministry of Finance has already submitted complete proposals on relief and growth to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The government’s strategy aims to put the economy on a path of sustainable development under the IMF program while providing relief to the public.
