New York (Turkiye Khabar): The election of five new non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council has been completed.
According to international news agencies, the elected countries include Austria, Kyrgyzstan, Portugal, Trinidad and Tobago, and Zimbabwe.
These countries will serve as non-permanent members of the Security Council for a term of two years. Their official membership will begin on January 1, 2027.
Following this decision by the United Nations, expectations have been raised that global representation within the council will become more balanced across different regions.
