Tehran (Monitoring Desk) – Tensions between the United States and Iran have once again escalated sharply as both sides exchanged allegations and claims of missile and drone attacks against each other.
According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a U.S. operation targeted a communications tower on Qeshm Island, after which Iran carried out retaliatory missile and drone strikes on American military bases and interests in the region.
Iranian media reported that the IRGC claimed it had targeted the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters, an airbase, and several helicopters. It also stated that the action was in response to an alleged attack on an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC said that any attempt to threaten the security of the Strait of Hormuz would come at a cost for the United States. Spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebi stated that Iranian forces are more prepared than ever to handle any possible scenario and that the enemy will face different types of military responses.
Separately, Brigadier General Jafar Asadi of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said that Iran is being pressured to surrender completely, but the Iranian nation will never bow down.
He further claimed that Iran has not yet revealed its full military capabilities and, even if the situation worsens, the country would not be concerned even with NATO’s involvement in a potential conflict.
