Doha, Qatar (Turkey News) – Burhaneddin Duran, head of Turkey’s Information Department, stated that today’s wars are not confined to physical battlefields but are also being waged through narratives, digital platforms, and public perception.
He made these remarks during the opening session of the 17th Al Jazeera Forum, on the theme: “The Palestine Issue and the Emerging Multipolar World: Regional Power Balance.” Duran urged participants to not only confront the devastating realities of the war in Gaza but also carefully examine the emerging changes in the international system.
Duran said, “For the past twenty years, we were told that the world is in a phase of transformation, but today that narrative is no longer sufficient. The world has already shifted.” He added that the post-war international system’s assumptions have been shattered, norms of acceptable behavior have weakened, and genocide is no longer treated as an exception in global politics but as a harsh reality that is being tolerated.
