Baku (Turkey News): President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Colombia’s newly appointed ambassador Nelsy Raquel Munar Jaramillo, who presented her diplomatic credentials.
According to the state news agency, President Aliyev stated that despite geographical distance, relations between Azerbaijan and Colombia are satisfactory, but there is a need to further enhance cooperation across various sectors. He emphasized strengthening ties in economy, investment, tourism, and other key areas, and extended his best wishes to the ambassador.
On the occasion, Ambassador Nelsy Raquel Munar Jaramillo expressed pride in being the first female ambassador of Colombia to Azerbaijan and affirmed her commitment to strengthening bilateral political dialogue. She also highlighted her determination to explore new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, ongoing Spanish language courses in Azerbaijan were appreciated, with participation from local students and experts. The implementation of the ASAN Service model was also discussed, with a memorandum of understanding described as a significant step in institutional cooperation between the two nations.
Both sides exchanged views on expanding cooperation in areas such as agriculture, mine clearance, education, and culture, while also appreciating mutual support at international forums including the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement.
