Close Coordination Between Turkey and EU Is Crucial: Erdoğan

Istanbul (Turkey News): Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke with Ursula von der Leyen to discuss recent attacks on Iran and the resulting regional tensions, according to the Turkish Directorate of Communications.

During the conversation, Erdoğan urged all parties to return to diplomacy and negotiations, expressing Turkey’s readiness to provide full support for the peace process. He also emphasized that close contact and coordination between Turkey and the European Union is extremely important during this process.

Last week, United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran, killing several senior Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran targeted Israel, US assets, and Gulf countries with drone and missile strikes.

It is worth noting that a similar conflict occurred last June, when Israel and the US attacked Iran, which was followed by a 12-day conflict that ended with a ceasefire.
