Bodies of Libyan Military Delegation Sent Home After Funeral Ceremony in Ankara

Ankara (Turkey News): On Saturday, a funeral ceremony was held in Ankara for the members of a Libyan military delegation before their bodies were sent back to Libya. Among the deceased was Libya’s Chief of General Staff, General Mohamed Ali Al-Haddad, who died in a private jet crash.

All eight individuals on board the aircraft that crashed in Ankara on December 23 were killed, including five delegation members and three crew members.

The funeral ceremony took place at Murted Air Base, where attendees observed a minute of silence, recited the Quran, and offered prayers for the deceased. After the names of the deceased were read, the bodies were transferred to a plane bound for Libya.

The ceremony was attended by Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, Chief of General Staff General Saljuq Bayraktaroğlu, Commander of the Army General Metin Tükkel, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Erçüment Tatlıoğlu, Libyan Ambassador in Ankara Mustafa Al-Jalib, members of the Libyan military delegation, and relatives of the deceased.

The deceased included General Mohamed Ali Al-Haddad, Libyan Land Forces Commander Lieutenant General Fattouri Gribel, Director of Libyan Military Factories Brigadier General Mahmoud Jumaa Al-Ghitawi, Chief of General Staff Advisor Mohamed Asawi, and photographer Mohamed Omar Ahmed Mahjoub.

After the repatriation of the bodies, General Bayraktaroğlu departed for Libya to attend a military ceremony.
